CommWarrior - The first worm that infiltrated my n-gage

Yup, I no longer can proudly say that my device was never been effected by any virus. No one can be too save, even me. With all the precaution I take, I can only hold it so far. Thats the interesting world we live on. No one can be save, and even I hate to admit it, I'm also vulnerable to these kinda thingi.

So how did It infected my device? Normally CommWarrior will spread by using an infected phone as its host and send it via bluetooth and MMS (It really hurts my credit). Yup I think I've disabled my mms sending, but somehow I unexpectedly loose some on my credit (I'm cheap, I use Hotlink Prepaid). But If this is the way they spread, than I can still proudly say that I'm safe from infection. I always keep my bluetooth off, and I can't really receive mms (I think Its a waste sending paid mms when you can always email it or use all sort of free alternative on the net). And the story of how the Slimy Warrior gets me is quit sad (at least for me).

It was on a cold dark night (last night). Three figures seems talking about unimportant things in a cafe on a side of a road (me and my boys were drinking in a warong). Suddenly, one of them (me) passed a weapon of death to the other one. Slowly the one holding the device, unarmed it, and load another bullet into it (my friend is trying to test another MMC). And BAM!!! the device was cor2upted.

The other MMC my friend testing was infected with the CommWarior and so is my n-gage then. So I somehow can still ease my pain just to say that its not my fault that my device was infected. So the worm just keep restarting the phone and I have to shut it down for good. That is till today, I got on the net, google for some solution and I've downloaded f-commwarrior and anticommwarrior as I don't know which will work (I somehow know anticommwarrior will work but I just want to try what can f-commwarrior do).

The solution (this is just what I do and it isn't suppose to be true - I'm not a specialist)

anticomwarrior - scan and delete CommWarrior
f-ComWarrior - Somehow disable the worm from working

Like I say, I think anticommwarrior will work great, scanning and cleaning it effortlessly, but Installing the .sis might be a problem as the device would restart itself while installing it. So I think u can uncompress it first or download the uncompressed version and just copy the folder into E:/system/apps (the MMC directory). Insert it into the device, quickly open it in the menu, scan and remove it from the system. Yup, this might just work, in theory, and I wouldn't know if it will work as I don't even try this method (but I still think it will work).

So what I do?

I use the f-commwarrior thinggi first. I uncompressed it and put it in the MMC, just like how I stated above, and I use it to deactivate the worm first. And then I can actually search the virus file manually but I'm to lazy too. So I slowly install anticommwarrior ( as the device wont restart itself no more) and scan and remove it automatically. It found 3 infected files and remove iy from the system. Yup, This method work for me, so if the method above fail, you can also try this.

But... The virus somehow changed my current operator logo into a green infected by CommWarrior logo which somehow looks cool to me. But leaving that would leave a scar to my pride so I manually change back to something cooler, more suiting to my cor2upted style. But that is another story....

Ok, First of all I don't play magic: The gathering. I don't even know how to play it. It sounds interesting, but no one I know playing it. So I just left it as it is.

Actually I found the test while browsing around, and having nothing to do... I took it. Walla, I'm blue... LOL. I thought I would black, but maybe I'm not cut up to be black anymore. :P
